Types of Implant Restorations

The Dental Implant & Restoration Process
Dental implants and restorations involve both Dr. Hollinger and an oral surgeon. If you and Dr. Hollinger decide on implants, she will create a customized treatment plan. This plan may involve extracting any teeth to be replaced and, if needed, performing bone grafting to build up the jawbone. After this, an oral surgeon will place the implants.
When it is time to place the implants, Dr. Hollinger will refer you to a respected oral surgeon in your area. The oral surgeon will carry out the placement surgery by strategically inserting the implants into your jawbone. After the surgery, the surgeon will cover the implants with gum tissue to allow them to heal. You will receive a temporary denture tooth to wear during the healing phase, which typically takes 3 to 6 months.
During this time, Dr. Hollinger will take impressions of your mouth and begin designing your new, permanent implant restorations. We pay careful attention to fit, function, and appearance so that your permanent replacement teeth will feel natural and perform beautifully. Once your implants have fully fused with the surrounding jawbone, we remove the temporary denture. Dr. Hollinger will confirm the fit of your new implant restorations, then permanently attach them to your dental implants using the abutments. When you leave our office, your teeth will look and feel like your natural teeth.
